Litany to Freyr

Rain and sunshine are his for the gifting,
Held in the palm of his hand -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.

Freyr, we pray that you pass among your people,
Bringing a good harvest, as the boar passes
Through the ripe corn -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.

At sun's birth the boar is given to you,
That your people may make and keep
Their holy vows, that the years may be
Bound together with a chain of gold -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.

Your sacred horses graze,  knowing no riders,
Where the far green fields lie undefiled,
Beyond the circle of Middle-Earth -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.

You give honor and horns never emptied
To those who enter the mounds,
Who watch over their sons and daughters -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.

Lord of peace, you give battle when need is,
Your sword is itself a strong warrior, you bestow
The cunning and strength and the fierce rush of the boar -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.

Strong god who will not take no for an answer,
You wooed and won the sun-bright maiden,
And the world of the giants will know her no more -

Lord of earth and its bounty, smile on us.
